The cat's tail is a slide that leads outside. Students come in through the mouth, and the coat room, classrooms, dining room and staircase are in the cat's belly. The main room is the cat's head. Kindergarten Wolfartsweier is located in Karlsruhe, Germany. The cat-shaped kindergarten was designed by artist Tomi Ungerer in collaboration with architect Ayla Suzan Yöndel. Just wait until you see the back of the building, after the jump.

The children who go to Kindergarten Wolfartsweier in Karlsruhe, Germany, must enjoy themselves.

Created by artist Tomi Ungerer and d’Ayla-Suzan Yöndel, this uniquely designed kindergarten allows children to enter by the mouth as though they are being swallowed.

The ‘stomach’ houses the classrooms, coatroom, dining room and kitchen, while the paws double up as play areas.

The eyes are the window of the main hall, which is on the second floor, while the grass atop the roof is likened to the cat’s fur.

By using the anatomy of a cat as a blueprint, this building is able to make full use of its space, giving the children a fun-filled experience at school.

Abrazos gatunos. ~
